Acne-myth: Working-out causes me to break-out.
Consider these 2 points before you sign-up for that hot yoga class.
First, when you start a new exercise program and you’re working out harder than before, there’s a change in hormones and you’ll break out from an increase in testosterone. It’s usually a short time and then your body adjusts.
Second, sweat clogs your pores. If you are waiting to wash your face or take a shower right after working out, you’ll experience more breakouts from your skin detoxing through sweat and being left on your skin.
So, does that mean you shouldn’t work-out…? No, we want you to be healthy and live your life. With proper care of your sensitive skin, you can stay clear with these acne-safe tips:
- Ladies, do not work out with makeup on! Make sure that your skin is clean before you workout. Otherwise, you’re just asking for clogged pores.
- As soon as you’re done working out, you need to wash your face with your facial cleanser. If you can’t, then bring a baggy of DIY Toner Pads with you when you workout. Once you’re done, wipe down your face immediately. This will help tremendously with post workout breakouts.
